Elmwood Park police make arrest in November armed robbery Comments Off

ELMWOOD PARK – Elmwood Park police have arrested a man in connection with the armed robbery of a gas station last November. The Cook County States Attorney’s office has charged Johnny Ingram, 32, whose last known address was in the 2100 block of 51st Court in Cicero.

“This was a case of solid, methodical detective work,” said Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano. “These kinds of investigations often take considerable time, which is why we appreciate the patience and understanding of our residents when we are unable to say anything publicly that might jeopardize the investigation.”

The robbery occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on November 24, 2015, when a man carrying a gun took $400 in cash from the Mobile station at 2144 North Harlem Ave. The suspect fled in a vehicle, but abandoned the vehicle three blocks away and continued on foot, according to police.

“Crime technicians recovered evidence at the scene that the offender had touched,” Fagiano said. “We received confirmation from the Illinois State Police Crime Lab that the evidence was linked to our suspect.” He also said video surveillance footage at the Mobile station aided investigators in the probe.

Fagiano said police arrested Ingram in Oak Park on Wednesday. A witness identified Ingram in a police lineup, and prosecutors later received a videotaped confession from Ingram, Fagiano said. Ingram is charged with one count of armed robbery, which carries a possible sentence of six to 30 years in prison.
