National Night Out

August 1 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

National Night Out builds trust and partnerships

ELMWOOD PARK, Ill. – The Elmwood Park Police Department is again hosting The National Night Out to give residents and police officers an opportunity to meet and discuss public safety at an evening barbeque.

“The event is a great community builder,” said Elmwood Park Police Chief Frank Fagiano. “It’s great to have positive interaction between police and residents to build trust and comradery.”

Last year, over 150 people attended the Elmwood Park National Night Out. The event is replicated throughout the United States and Canada in neighborhoods and on military bases and is designed to make communities safer.

“It’s a relaxed and conversational atmosphere,” said Trustee Anthony Del Santo. “Police officers are in plain clothes interacting with residents. Elmwood Park is a safe community and we want to continue to have trust and collaboration between officers and the public.”

The event has grown in popularity each year, and the police department intends to keep the tradition going.

“We value the input from the community,” said Fagiano. “No one knows their neighborhood better than the residents that live there.”

The National Night Out is August 1st from 6-9pm at the Parks and Recreation Center.
